Today’s featured game is the UEFA European Champions League Qualifier in Croatia betweein Dinamo Zagreb and Sheriff Tiraspol of Moldova. Both sides are very experienced in European competition following frequent appearances and both dominate their respective countries due to heavy financial investment.
With the first leg in Moldova ending in a 1-1 scoreline, the tie currently favours lavish hosts Dinamo Zagreb. However, the gap between the two sides is closing each year and although neither side played to their full potential in Moldova last week, this game certainly has the potential for goals. Dinamo is an interesting side due to the severe contrast in their displays i.e. beating Koper of Slovenia 5-1 at home in the last round of Champions League games and then losing 3-0 in the return leg. What remains constant with them, however, is their ability to bring goals into a game one way or another. Brazilian magician Sammir pulls all the strings for Dinamo Zagreb and he’ll be essential for them to do damage today. Dinamo lost Mandzukic to VFL Wolfsburg lately and have signed Ante Rukavina to replace him although his fitness is questionable ahead of this game. Dinamo’s defence has been a little shaky so far this season so Sheriff should have their chances today although don’t read too much into Dinamo’s defeat at home to Rijeka in the Prva Liga last match – I’ve not witnessed such a one-sided encounter result in a loss for the dominant side for a long time now! Five out of Dinamo Zagreb’s last eight Champions League games have gone over 2.5 goals and although Sheriff are primarily a defensive and thus under 2.5 goals side, Sheriff have to attack here so their usual defensive approach has to be abandoned somewhat. Both sides have sufficient match practice to do damage to each other today and the tie is poised perfectly for an overs game with the defensive side (Sheriff) having to come out of their shell to attack their potent hosts to try and qualify for the latter stages of this competition. The forecast for today in Zagreb is rain so this should really aid our cause with mistakes a-plenty at the Maksimir! It also dampens the spirit of the crowd, even convincing some not to turn out for the game so maybe Sheriff will make more of this game than I currently imagine from them. Either way, this game looks like an over 2.5 goals to me with the above in mind. I’ve got scorelines of 2-1, 3-1, and 3-0 in my head but I think over 2.5 goals at evens represents some value today.
Verdict: Over 2.5 goals at evens.
Wednesday’s Picks
My tips:
As ever, below are my recommended value tips for today in no particular order:
Rosenborg BK vs AIK Solna – home win with -1.75 handicap at evens.
This is fairly self-explanitory, really. Rosenborg demonstrated in Sweden in the first leg that they’re the better side and although AIK are generally a good possession side, they offer so little in attack and defend naively against good sides that they should succumb to defeat here without too much ceremony. AIK were totally outplayed by their Scandinavian rivals in the first leg and I expect more of the same today. Although Champions League football is the pinnacle of club football for all European sides, I can’t help but feel that AIK would be quietly happy to be out of this tournament to focus entirely on trying to avoid their season being a complete nightmare. Rosenborg have been as dominang as ever in their domestic league this season because of their champions mentality and the addition of Eggen’s tactics in recent times has improved Rosenborg’s potency as a result. I simply feel that Rosenborg are far better placed than AIK are to win this game and that they simply have better players. AIK definitely aren’t what they were last season due to lots of internal problems at the club whereas Rosenborg are as good as ever. I feel that the game won’t be a whitewash because if there’s one thing that AIK actually can do then it’s defend but I still feel Rosenborg will have ample opportunities to beat the -1.75 handicap and it’s certainly worth a shot at the generous odds on display.
Verdict: Rosenborg BK to beat the -1.75 goal handicap at evens.
Espoo vs PK-35 Helsinki – away win at 5/4.
I can’t stop backing PK-35 Helsinki thanks to their excellent Ykkonen form! It’s got to come crashing down at somepoint but I’m going to ride it until it does because PK-35 are actually playing to their potential for a change. They’re the most in-form side in the Ykkonen with six consecutive wins (eight from their last nine!) and have scored a minimum of two goals per game for their past five games consecutively, which is primarily why they’re doing so well. Nigeria striker Daniel Nwoke is in great form and his performances always boost PK-35′s overall displays, hence such good form for the visitors. They’re playing so well and with such strong momentum at the moment that you have to back them to claim their sixth away win in eight away games this season against an inferior Espoo side. Ironically, the only side to take points off PK-35 in their past eight games is actually Espoo themselves, who won 1-0 in Helsinki. However, the game was a one-off with low-scoring Espoo needing a lot of luck to ride the win in that game. PK-35 will be seeking revenge in this game and with Espoo nose-diving in form (just one win in five games, which was against lowly HJK II!) after three defeats in five games, you have to favour their superior opponents today. Espoo don’t offer enough of a goal threat to match PK-35′s attack today so we really should see an away win as a result today. PK-35′s rivals Viikingit Helsinki won here 4-3 last match and I wouldn’t be surprised to see PK-35 score four goals here, given the form that they’re in. Either way, the value has to be in the away win here so that’s what I’ll be calling today as their newly-promoted hosts are beginning their descent earlier than I anticipated that they would and are losing games too easily at the moment as a result.
Verdict: PK-35 Helsinki to win at 5/4.
Gorzow Wielkopolski vs Sandecja Nowy Sacz – home win at 6/4.
This is a risky call but the odds make it look worthwhile to me. Gorzow have played well in their friendlies pre-season and look set to improve upon their ninth-place finish last season if that form continues. Gorzow brought in new coach Krzysztow Pawlak to attempt to steer the club to the Ekstraklasa and he’s done well thus far; this is the big test, however – the opening day of the season for both sides. Gorzow’s weakness is that they have a lot of young players in their side following plenty of summer departures but to be honest, the club has looked better for it so I’m hoping that carries over into their Liga 1 displays. It should also be noted that some of Gorzow’s new players i.e. Feciuch, Jaron, Jasinski, Ciach have all come from Ekstraklasa clubs so they bring some ability to this club that they didn’t really possess last season so I quite fancy them today at generous odds.
Sandecja Nowy Sacz were phenomenal last season, finishing third in the table against all the odds. However, the squad that competed in Liga 1 last season has been changed en mass with thirteen players leaving and thirteen arriving. They’ve brought in a couple of good players themselves i.e. Szczepanski, Kukol – but I feel that they’ve lost more than they’ve gained. Sandecja’s displays in friendlies have been somewhat poor because they keep changing squads and tactics and they just don’t look anywhere near as comfortable as they did last season. Maybe their form will improve as Liga 1 begins but I find it hard to believe that such a dramatic change can happen so early in the season. Sandecja have looked particularly weak in attack in recent times, which is what guides me even moreso towards the home win today. Frankly, I don’t think that the visitors are in a position for the hosts to fear them today – in fact, I think the reverse is applicable here.
Although this will most likely be a close game, I have to take a chance on the home win at 6/4 because of the reasons mentioned above and the odds are good enough to take a chance on, in my opinion.
Verdict: Gorzow Wielkopolski to win at 6/4.

Zenit St.Petersburg, Basel, Dinamo Zagreb, Rosenborg BK, Atletico Huila, Viikingit Helsinki.
Recommended bets:
Zenit St.Petersburg, Dinamo Zagreb, and FC Copenhagen at 3/1.

Enjoy your free betting tips!
hey ian, just saying thanks 4 a great day of tipping yesterday :) in- play bets are my new thing, loving bet 365. thanks again and roll on next weekend
anyone else watching cisse destroy inter? lol
I have Inter -1.5 :(
Inter have just scored. ;)
if you wanna bet on a big team in a friendly
ALWAYS wait till kick off
i shudder to think of all the dumbasses bumming barcelona now
i might back em but definately after kick off
Where the hell is the game being played? Especially at this time? What’s with the random white fencing behind each of the goals?! Although, I must say that it looks rather nice lol. ;)
Oh, and Inter 1-3 Panathiankos…
I’ve just had a quick look and it’s being played at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, so that would explain everything… apart from the white fencing. ;)
I actually bet on Barcelona without looking at the squad. The reason is that they play against a K league allstar team. Even if they are good players from that league they may not be used to play together so whatever team Barcelona put on the pitch they have a benefit because they are better quality team but also that they play in a system that all know about and they know how to play with eachother.
yep thru 50e on inter at evens at after 5mins. thought it was a steal :(
Don’t write Inter off just yet mate. If Panathinaikos can score three goals in one half, then I’m pretty sure Inter can. Keep the faith for now. :)
Or you could have a punt on Universidad de Chile to make up for the loss?
Guadalajara are looking pretty decent at the minute! They should be 2-0 up by now…
i did have a punt on uni de chile and dat save at the end by the chivas keeper has killed any chance. i thought chivas didnt like this tournament??? they look fantastic :(
any time a team plays football they will try to win, regardless of what tournament they are in
I agree. I’ve watched the whole first half and Guadalajara have been really up for it. However, I’ve taken Universidad de Chile (Draw No Bet) at 3/1 at half time based on a few statistics that I found out:
1. Guadalajara haven’t won any of their last 7 away matches
2. Universidad de Chile have scored at least one goal in their last 11 consecutive matches.
It’s got to be worth a shot, no?
did anyone see the dog run onto the pitch
LOL
Yeah, haha. Wtf? loool
chivas keeper saves everything.
Yeah, he looked so cool, calm and relaxed. When the ball comes at him, he just plucks it from the air easily with one hand and stuff like that lol. I was impressed with both goalkeepers actually. They both pulled off some great saves!
Sengkang Punggol vs Gombak United
Back under 2.5 goals.
I cant be arsed to give reasoning fingers getting lazy but i have good reasons.
Actually backed this marz!
What the hell? A dog just ran on the pitch and the players started stroking it?! First white garden fences behind the goals and now a dog randomly running across the pitch. I’ve seen it all now. :P
Some notes on ROSENBORG – AIK
AIK will welcome back Antônio Flávio, Walid Atta and Admir Catovic for their trip to Lerkendal. AIK will have to score to have a chance to go through, something they´ve had problems with in Allsvenskan this season (13 goals in 17 games, although only 20 conceded, despite being next to last).
Rosenborg are still undefeated at home in Tippeligan 7-3-0 (24-7). Swede Rade Prica will start up front, alongside Moldskred, after being rested against Haugesund meaning Steffen Iversen will play an attacking mdifielder role again.
While I agree that Rosenborg isn´t the force they used to be and that AIK´s defensive could make it a little difficult for Rosenborg, I still can´t see anything else than the Norwegian team making the next round of the Champions League. They are stronger all over the pitch, have the home advantage as well as a 1-0 win at Råsunda last week.
Agree with Ian´s pick!
Sorry, didn´t notice there was a preview already written Ian. Just saw:
“Rosenborg BK vs AIK Solna (8) -1.75 handicap”
Treble for me today consisting of:
FC Viikingit
Rosenborg
FC Zenit
at 2.40 (nordicbet)
Any ideas on what type of team Everton will put up against.. ummm.. Everton tonight? :P
League of Ireland XI v Man Utd
Man Utd should win this one as Rooney, Vidic, Carrick and Park Ji-Sung will take part in the match. This is their last friendly match before facing Chelsea for the Community Shield. Certainly the Man Utd players will want to impress in their last friendly match to boost their confidence ahead for the match on Sunday.
The odds on Man Utd win is pretty short though, so I am putting it in the accumulator (:
Pk35/vikingit/fernabache/zenith under 2.5 goals/ pays over 6/1
Un de chile let me down last nite.
Yeah true, but generally top picks by Ian thanks mate, unfortunately lost most of winnings on fuckin baseball i’m done with that shit.
Enjoying the pick of the day lets cash it :)
Not sure I appreciate that kind of comment, Mazz. Losses let everyone down but what’s the purpose in posting just that negative statement?
aagh another day with far too many possibilities making for another minefield
i am liking varberg bois @ 17/20 & KPV @ 27/20 but partizan @ 11/10 too not forgetting jippo @ 8/5 – i dunno what does a man do ?
all of these won i would be a millionaire – i just took £350 on kpv at 8/5 so still a good £560 profit woohoo
Always beware teams that won the away leg with ease as not a sure bet for home league as they dont need to win. Example Rosenborg
Yup but Rosenborg will surely want to score one goal to elimate the possibility of AIK scoring and taking the game to extra time.
spatgo is right 1-0 is not enough of a scoreline to switch off for 2nd leg – that would apply to partizan who are already 3 up ! which is why i worry !
AIK coach has said he won´t go “all out” to score a goal but sit back a bit from the start. At least that´s what he´s said.
Don´t know about the handicap because as Ian says if there is something AIK know it´s defending. Would be surprised if they tonight (but won´t be backing Rosenborg´s clean sheet because of the short odds).
AIK isnt exactly a team in balance. At spring season they crashed and burned. They sacked the coach and then they made alot of changes selling of and buying in new players.
It is a new fresh team but they havent played together so much and that isnt all good. They are recovering from the bad springseason and will probably come up to a standard that they normally is.
I would say they are top 3 in Sweden normally at spring they played as they were a team ready to fall down one division.
This is a quite easy win for Rosenborg.
Ah yes i thought it was 2 0. Then yes they probably will win but still does not tempt me to put in my acc. The bet that stands out for me is zentih under 2.5 goals at 4/5. Bargin backet lol Zentih the far better team but will have to be careful as 0 0 not a great away score. And unirea can defend. Alot of 0 0 draws in recent games. Itching to put a big bet but at moment dont have the amo.
First I was thinking of backing Copenhagen. Now I feel abit worried. I look at the last matches. Belirus league is in the middle of the season and BATE is as good as they can be leading and they have excellent form.
Same goes with Copenhagen but maybe they arent up in tempo yet. They played in this weekend while BATE got to rest in their league.
0-0 i first game can be repeated of BATE can score. I give BATE same chance of winning here as copenhagen because they come to the match with rested players.
I will go for a longshoot here and back BATE but that is because I think they have a equal chance to win and the away odds will be higher than win for Copenhagen.
So BATE DNB for me around 4 in odds.
good bate draw no bet 4/1 i might have some of that
Best of luck with this. BATE showed a lot of fatigue in the first leg. Had they not, I’d agree with you entirely. However, Copenhagen should do the business today.
Ohh well 1-0 to Copenhagen after 1 min play.
better stream http://vipstand.net/watch/1685/1/watch-fc-kobenhavn-vs-fc-bate-borisov.html
Please keep anything like live scores, commentary or streams to the live commentary forum. Cheers :)
I got Double on
Dinamo Zagreb vs FC Sheriff – Over 2.5
Rosenborg vs AIK H-1
@3.82
Fingers Crossed now eh!
I will put about 0,5 unit on Sporting braga to win with at least two goals to an odds of 13,50 . Celtic played that cup in the weekend and if Braga score one goal in first half the other goal is in reach. Braga won 3-0 home against Celtic. So why cant they win again ?
Remember this is an extreme longshoot on goal. I just like the idea so I will test it. :)
What do people make of LA Galaxy’s chances?
3.35 on Betfair away to Puerto Rico. Aware of their poor form and that they lost 4-1 out last time to these but I gather PR had pretty much everything go for them and Galaxy just had no luck at all. Perhaps this match is the one for them to turn around their form.

Hi guys, I’m pretty new to betting but had a fantastic world cup, been looking at these tips for a few days now and I’m very impressed with you guys…I’m just about to join bet365, anyone got a referrer code before I sign up, I remember someone mentioning it the other day? My email is: dan—c@hotmail.co.uk I would greatly appreciate it.
Today I quite fancy:
Fenerbahce
Rosenborg
Zenit
Salzburg
Basel
Copenhagen
Celtic/Braga Draw
@ Super Heinz: 0.15p (£18 all in) – - > £185 winnings!
What do you guys think about some of the friendlies tonight? I see Barca just battered K-League Stars. I think Hamburg are in with a decent chance against Chelsea but I’ll wait until in-play. Cheers guys!
Think Celtic will win but it all depends on Braga’s mindset of whether they go to get another to completely kill it.
A lot of the favourites will win today so looks a good bet for short odds accy’s imo.
Also, sent you one if you don’t mind, if you wanna sign up under someone else’s it’s fine! :)
Sent an email but not sure if I’ve got it right..
S765331733
Thanks if you do, never mind if you don’t :)
Just read T+C’s, noticed giving you a code like that doesn’t work.
Guess a few of these posts can be deleted – your email isn’t showing as valid though when typed in.
mate there’s no referral codes per say. someone on Bet365 such as myself can refer you and we’d both get 25 notes free . you will then also get a bonus of your first deposit matched up to 200 quid. obviously id happily refer you for 25 quid each. i need you first name, surname, and contact number along with your email so when you go to sign up those details match. you can mail me those if you so wish and ill hook up the 25 for you and I, hastingr@gmail.com
Both teams to score in play Hamburg/Chelsea btw i’m loving. Don’t think you can get ‘both teams to score’ markets on friendlies pre match on 365 which is why i say in play.
Aaron wasn’t trying to muscle in ahead! your responses werent showing up when i responded for some reason.
Hey West Hammer, saw your post about referring someone to 365, I was gonna sign up tonight, hope you dont mind I sent you an email with my details to sign up with
Nice one mate, good to go.
Is it just me or Pk35 winning and Vikingiit -1 winning present the same risk today ? :)
These only two bets that really attract me for the UEFA Champions League qualifiers today:
1. HJK Helsinki v Partizan Belgrade – Partizan Belgrade (Draw No Bet) @ 4/6
2. Rosenborg v AIK Solna – Rosenborg (Match Handicap: -1 Goal) @ Evens
I also fancied Ajax to beat PAOK Salonika @ Evens but it doesn’t quite tickle my fancy like the other two bets. Good luck today everyone!
Nicely done mate ;) I like it!
Fuck Ajax. They’ve taken unfit Suarez to lead their line against a stubborn PAOK side in Salonika that welcome back their captain and star striker Muslimovic. I’d have layed Ajax if the odds weren’t so shit
Thanks, Ian. :)
Too late now though, mate. I’ve just done an accumulator of Ajax to win & Rosenborg -1 @ 2.5/1 – which I thought were reasonable odds. My knowledge of PAOK Salonika is fairly limited to be honest and I’ve never really known them to be a good side. I’m more familiar with their greek counterparts; Olympiakos, Panathinaikos and AEK Athens. Ajax are a good team and they have a few quality players like Suarez. I don’t know his fitness but I looked at the reverse fixture and he scored, so that was good enough for me. ;) Ah well, I guess we’ll have to just wait and see what happens. :/
Any thoughts on this game ?
http://www.soccerway.com/matches/2010/08/05/nc-america/concacaf-champions-cup/puerto-rico-islanders/los-angeles-galaxy/941403/
Puerto Rico Islanders won at Galaxys home pitch with 4-1 and in next game Galaxy got a quick 3 goals against them against a Chicago without much form. In second half Galaxy recover and the game ended 2-3.
Puerto Rico Islanders play in US division 2. Something isnt right in Galaxy at the moment. Dont know if they can go to puerto rico to get a win , seemes like a longshot for me. Homewin for Puerto Rico Islanders around 2.40.
I may go with that but thought I put this in here to see if anyone got some ideas about this game.
Personally i’m not going near this game but yeah couldn’t back the galaxy the way things have been going. Donovan probably wants out to Citeh, must be what’s causing all sorts of disharmony behind the scenes. They have lost their swagger emphatically.
Galaxy have a big game with Real Madrid on Sunday. That is their main focus. They could care less about this match and even may rest some players
Im looking at the odds right now and the odds is going up for Puerto Rico team.
I hope you are wrong bob when you say that they would think a friendly game against Real Madrid to be more important than a Champions league game.
I can say that I would be very impressed if Galaxy turn around this and win against Puerto Rico. I would be dissapointed if the gave up before the game and just when kick off happens they lay down and let the puerto ricans run over them.
I am well up for having a go if the odds is greater than evens!!
Just wondering, where can i bet the game as i’ve checked william hill, bet365, stanjames – the match isnt on the list…. :S
You can find info here —> http://www.oddsoddsodds.com/goto/odds/s1/g871647/m1/d0/
around 2,60 for home win
… and stan james and bet365 have it if you prefer them.
AH! Found it! :D
Thank you

Good luck to us both. :)
Something strange is happening on the oddsmarket right now. All 3 picks for that game can be found at over 3 in odds. That means safe money for someone that have accounts all over the place
Good play on Rosenborg- AIK

Combined odds at 25,70
What do you think?
Canadian soccerleague in 1,30 hour from now.
St. Catharines Wolves vs. Hamilton Croatia. away win @ 1,95
any reasoning? i might follow you and jump on board ;)
This is the info I got on hand.
http://www.soccerway.com/matches/2010/08/05/canada/canadian-soccer-league/st-catharines-roma-wolves/hamilton-croatia/934527/
I look at the head to head and see that Hamilton Croatia beat St. Cath at home with 6-1 26th of June 2010.
There is an unknown factor here that there is no data how well HC play at their home pitch so that has to take into the consideration.
Last match HC won at home with 6-2 against London City. St Cath lost at home against montreal II.
As you can see I analyse only on the statistic I can see . So I dont know about the teams in detail. That can be bad sometimes but considering what I see here I think its a good pick around 1,95. That is a 51% chance to win and I think they win every second match under this conditions.
If the odds go down around 1,70 – 1.65 I may not be so interested in betting on this that indicate that they have around 62 % chance to win. I just think it sounds to high.
So there you have my analysis.
ian do you have nay thoughts on the copa final vitoria vs santos?
Vitoria are strong at home, Santos don’t travel well and have a 2-0 cushion here. This has 1X all over it with Santos thus winning. I expect a fairly low-scoring and drab encounter which will be all Santos want here and they’re decent enough to obtain it.
I will try Vitoria win on this one with draw no bet. Looks realistic.
Unlucky with the featured game again, but that’s football, hope tomorrow will be better :)
Good call with Rosenborg and Polish team. Made some profit with Rosenborg -1, Zenit and Basel treble.
Oh and some shocking news from Estonia also – Levadia sacked their manager Prins yesterday and their II team coach took over.. and today he had his debut and Levadia lost to Tallinna Kalev (Esiliiga) in cup game..
Well going to send you some more information when Meistriliiga games are coming up Ian.
Keep up the good and hard work Ian, always appreciated!
