Today’s featured game is the UEFA Europa League Qualifier in Russia between Sibir Novosibirsk and PSV Eindhoven. The hosts are making their maiden voyage in European competition whereas their visitors are a household name worldwide albeit with less household names than in the past but are still a giant club nonetheless so we already have something of a mismatch.
We’ll look at the hosts first, however. Sibir hail from Novosibirsk, an intimidating city in central Russia where many sides within Russia fear to travel to. Sibir are not the atypical Russian low-scoring side when playing at home; they’re extremely good at closing the ball down and love to attack and score goals. Their defensive strength is minimal because of this tactic but they do have some joy at home if they face an under-prepared side and take an early lead. However, any side that averages conceding two goals per home game domestically has real problems and that’s why Sibir are currently bottom of the Russian Premier League and are strong favourites to reclaim their place in the division below this year. Sibir reached this round by overcoming Cypriot outfit Apollon Limassol on away goals after a 2-2 draw, winning 1-0 at home and losing 2-1 away. Sibir played well in those two games but I’d expect nothing less from a side mid-season when facing a side that hadn’t played a competitive match for two months. They’re hosting a PSV Eindhoven side today that have only just kicked off their Eredivisie campaign but boast a frighteningly good squad and Sibir Novosibirsk have very good reason to fear here. Not only do they have a crucial home game with Amkar Perm at weekend in their battle to avoid relegation but they’ve also just parted with captain Medvedev (who was an experienced striker and their top goalscorer both this and last season) as he’s signed for Rubin Kazan. To be blunt, they’re going to be fucked without him and I doubt they’ll score today as a result.
That’s not to say that PSV Eindhoven won’t give them ample opportunities to do so, however. If there’s one thing that Dutch sides have convinced me of in European football this season then it’s that their attention towards defence is getting even more lax year by year. However, PSV have seemingly taken over Ajax’s mantle from last year by conceding a goal or two but scoring a lot more so they’re a side that must be taken seriously. They’ve already notched up eight goals in two Eredivisie games and their last match against De Graafschap was won at such a canter that PSV were able to rest key players ahead of this game i.e. Swedish starlet Toivonen. PSV do miss the creativity of Hungarian midfielder Balasz Dzsudzsak for this game through suspension and that will be a partial blow for them although I’d fear it more if they were facing a side that I felt could equal them quality-wise. Happily, that isn’t an issue today as I rate PSV as being two or possibly even three times as good as Sibir Novosibirsk so I think PSV should still have more than enough for their Russian hosts to deal with.
I don’t think this pitch will be friendly for the Dutch visitors but I think they’ve played in enough shit venues over the years to handle it. They’ve got a good blend of experience and youth in their talented squad and their commanding start to their Eredivisie campaign gives me great belief in this side, especially in front of goal. If Sibir had Medvedev for this game then I’d give them a chance but without him, I can’t see a home win here. I wouldn’t jump over PSV on the handicap simply because there’s a chance you’ve never heard of Sibir; be aware that this pitch and indeed venue will be very testing. However, the odds on the away win look a little too generous today when you consider the class difference so I think PSV should take a slender lead back to the Netherlands after this game today at decent odds of 13/20.
Verdict: PSV Eindhoven to win at 13/20.
Thursday’s Picks
My tips:
As ever, below are my recommended value tips for today in no particular order:
BATE Borisov vs Maritimo Funchal – home win at 11/10.
Hosts BATE Borisov are a little unfortunate to be in the UEFA Europa League following a spirited display in Denmark, eventually crashing out to Superligaen giants FC Copenhagen. However, they’re back with a vengeance tonight and in Belarus they’re a hard side to face at the best of times! BATE enter this game on the back of a convincing 2-0 win over Shakhtyor Soligorsk, which will do wonders for their morale as it was very much a “we’ll-put-you-back-in-your-place” win against their in-form visitors that re-affirmed BATE’s “champions” tag so I expect BATE to be well motivated for this game, not to mention bringing good morale to this game too. You only need to flance at the Vysshaya Liga table to see that BATE’s strength is their unyielding defence that has conceded just four goals in twenty domestic games this season, which is phenomenal, to be frank! European football is different, of course, but knowing a side’s strengths and weaknesses is paramount to betting successfully. So my interpretation of BATE tonight is that they won’t concede against Maritimo; not only because the hosts are sound defensively but because they’re also more experienced than their Portuguese visitors that don’t travel well as it is. My main question here is whether BATE will score or not. View them as the Belarusian equivilant of Russia’s Zenit St.Petersburg and you’ll know what I mean.
That’s where we introduce Maritimo Funchal, however! Portuguese sides are not notorious for being able to defend and these guys are no exception. You can look at their displays last round against Bangor City of Wales and say that they won both legs, scoring ten goals along the way and be impressed and watch as idiots blindly claim they can win the UEFA Europa League. Alternatively, you can look at the fact that they conceded three goals over those two legs against a very much inferior side and barely managed to beat them away from home in a somewhat disappointing display. I prefer to look at the latter aspect because it affirms my beliefs in Portuguese sides lacking in defensive competence although they do tend to compensate for that by being astute in attack. Atypically, however, Portuguese sides will go for the draw on the road because they’re always strong at home so I don’t expect to see much adventure from Maritimo today so I’m going to be rather bold and rule out the away win here.
Therefore, we’re left with the home win and the draw. I won’t deny that a draw is possible here; both sides play possession football and don’t give much away. However, both are very much “home” sides and as BATE are at home and are more adept tactically, I have to favour the Belarusian hosts to nick this one today. A defeat tonight won’t concern Maritimo greatly because they’re good in Portugal so I think a narrow win for the mid-season hosts against a Maritimo side that has only played three competitive games this season at 11/10 looks a decent bet.
Verdict: BATE Borisov to win at 11/10.
Slovan Bratislava vs VfB Stuttgart – lay VfB Stuttgart at 21/20.
I watched VfB Stuttgart somehow overcome Norway’s Molde FK last round and afterwards I had to wonder just how they’d managed it. Stuttgart played worse than I’d seen them play for some years so it’s plain to see that new manager Fredi Bobic has a lot to address before the Bundesliga begins. I don’t know what else I expected, to be honest – this Stuttgart side has made some hefty losses over the summer with Khedira joining Real Madrid, Hleb returning to Barcelona, and Hilbert joining Besiktas JK and the losses are plain to see. Stuttgart look somewhat devoid of creativity and lack the clinical finishing that Russian striker Pavel Pogrebnyak used to have in his game but has seemingly forgotten about. All in all, Stuttgart are not worth the odds they’ve been given today so don’t bet on them for their name here! Slovan Bratislava impressed me in the last round by easing past Red Star Belgrade with clinical finishing and good possession. They’ve started their Corgon Liga campaign well too so I’m expecting a highly-motivated display from the hosts and if they maintain their current level of potency, I think they’ll give Stuttgart an awful lot to think about in this game. For me, there’s far too much value in laying the visitors today because I see very little that concerns me in their attack so I’ll be laying Stuttgart today.
Verdict: Lay VfB Stuttgart at 21/20.
Omonia Nicosia vs Metalist Kharkiv – home win at 6/5.
Omonia let me down against Austrian champions Salzburg but have a chance of redemption tonight against Ukrainian opponents Metalist Kharkiv. If Metalist were their usual untouchable selves in time for this game then I’d give it a miss but the fact is that their defence is terrible at the moment. They’ve been so uncertain in their domestic games – it’s like the defenders can’t even speak the same language! I’m choosing to overlook their 1-0 win at Dnipro Dnepropetrovsk last match, incidentally, as both sides rested players for their respective European games. Their display at home to Vorskla Poltava in the match prior to that was what concerned me massively as they leaked three goals against one of the most impotent Ukrainian Premier League sides I’ve ever seen! Metalist have few problems in attack and in passing the ball well but their defending leaves me with zero confidence in them keeping their wealthy Cypriot hosts out today so I think Metalist have a real problem here. Omonia only showed their true potential against Salzburg in patches; they need to show it a lot more tonight to claim a win here. However, the talent is unquestionably there and the heat of Nicosia will not be an ally of the Ukrainians so they may experience a little fatigue. All in all, I really fancy Omonia to trouble their visitors today and although I expect a shrewd and calculating game from both sides, I think Omonia have enough to win this one at good odds of 6/5.
Verdict: Omonia Nicosia to win at 6/5.
AIK Solna vs Levski Sofia – away win at 7/5.
This is probably my riskiest call of the day as Bulgarian sides don’t travel well but I’m banking on AIK’s dismal campaign to yield success for our Bulgarian friends! Levski have made a bright start to their A PFG campaign despite facing a “welcome to hell” fixture list including rivals CSKA Sofia and Lokomotiv Sofia in their first few games, both of which they managed to win. The acquisition of French striker Dembele has done masses for Levski as they have a much-needed powerhouse striker as a target man, which allows their creative midfielders to get in and around him and thus Levski look a better side. They were brought back down to earth on a trip to Chernomorets Burgas a few days ago, which was a little unexpected, but may have woken them up in time for their trip to Sweden. Levski reached this round after they crushed AIK’s Allsvenskan rivals Kalmar 6-3 on aggregate. Although AIK are the reigning Allsvenskan champions, I personally rate Kalmar as a better side so I do read something into Levski’s dominant win against Kalmar. AIK have had no end of problems this season both on and off the field and their lacklustre displays in each competition tell me that they’re no more than an average Swedish side currently with a big history. AIK struggle to break down defences and score goals whereas Levski are dynamite on the counter-attack so I can only look at the away win here and think that 7/5 is a good set of odds for the Levski win.
Verdict: Levski Sofia to win at 7/5.
Dnipro Dnepropetrovsk vs Lech Poznan – home win with -1.5 handicap at 29/20.
You all know my thoughts on backing Dnipro scoring more than one goal in a game a.k.a. don’t do it! However, I’m taking a bold plunge here by backing them to do so but there is method to the madness here. Lech have started…well, everything they’ve been in this season really badly. There’s little cohesion in the team, no potency, and the side miss Lewandowski too much. They brought in Rudnevs to replace him far later than they should have done and he now can’t play in this game as he’s cup-tied, I believe. Lech are missing a whole host of key defenders for this game – Gancarczyk, Wojtkowiak, Bosacki (captain!) – and offer so little in front of goal that it’s unreal. Krivets isn’t playing as well as he could be and the side basically looks very uneasy. As I said earlier, I don’t like backing Dnipro on the handicap due to their love for single-goal victories but they’re playing very well this season and should be able to do it, irrespective of their harsh defeat against Metalist Kharkiv at weekend. If Lech score in this game (somehow) then I have very little confidence in this selection but having watched Lech’s terrible display at home to Arka Gdynia last match, who are arguably the worst side in the Ekstraklasa currently, I cannot do anything but go against them heavily as they offer nothing in front of goal currently.
Verdict: Dnipro Dnepropetrovsk to beat the -1.5 goal handicap at 29/20.
CSKA Sofia vs The New Saints – both sides to score at evens.
The problems of CSKA Sofia are well-documented with fan pressure, terrible displays due to laziness, and Bulgarian clubs never respond well to such things. Typically, a few days ago, CSKA Sofia sacked Dochev after just a few games this season. Losing to Levski Sofia is a big thing in CSKA’s world but failing to beat the likes of Rakovski was clearly too much and he’s been sacked. There’s been no appointment made to replace him yet and the club are frankly in chaos. Tiero and Miguel haven’t trained due to falling out with the club. Popov, Minev, and Grillo aren’t fit to play in this game. The players that can play aren’t playing well so how CSKA hope to progress here is beyond me; they’re just lucky that The New Saints aren’t that good a side. I expect a strong and resilient display from the Welsh side as they have done throughout European football this season and with CSKA’s ample problems at the moment, I’m confident that the Welsh side will score at least once. Despite CSKA’s problems, I cannot envision them not scoring in this game against an inferior side so my call today is for both sides to score at generous odds.
Verdict: Both sides to score at evens.
Lausanne Sports vs Lokomotiv Moscow – lay Lokomotiv Moscow at evens.
I don’t understand how a Lokomotiv Moscow side that cannot win away from home in Russia can be so short to win away from home…in Switzerland! I have great respect for Yury Semin; he’s a damn good manager and he’s revolutionised this side with the acquisition of talented midfielder Olexandr Aliev from Dynamo Kiev but Lokomotiv will approach this game as they do all away games; defensively. Not only that, but they enter this game on the back of a home defeat in the Moscow derby against bitter rivals Spartak so confidence is not high in the camp currently. However, hosts Lausanne Sports have plenty to be happy about following convincing displays both domestically and on the continent this season with goals coming at will and displays of such confidence and composure that you could be mistaken for thinking that Lausanne Sports are not the Challenge League side that they actually are. Lokomotiv obviously have a fairly superior side but to this extent? Not for my money. The value today has to be in laying the Russians here as they’ll much prefer to win this tie back in Moscow.
Verdict: Lay Lokomotiv Moscow at evens.
BV09 Borussia Dortmund vs Qarabagh – half-time draw/full-time BV09 Borussia Dortmund at 11/4.
This is a bold but fun bet! Dortmund played well in the Bundesliga last year and have made some very interesting and potentially very good acquisitions over the summer, most notably Lewandowski from Lech Poznan and Kagawa from Cerezo Osaka. These talented youngsters join an already talented Dortmund side with the likes of experienced Kehl alongside talented playmaker Sahin in the middle of the park with battlers Barrios and Haedo-Valdez in attack, not to mention the giant Subotic in central defence. I like this Dortmund side an awful lot and think they’ll be a force to be reckoned with when all of their new signings bed in. They’re a very imposing side and make sides work very hard to overcome them so I think we’ll see a full-blooded display from the hosts today. However, they’re facing a side that are very hard to beat and have proven so on numerous occasions throughout the past few years thanks to composed possession football that is generally beyond Azeri sides. However, Qarabagh have that ability so don’t underestimate them here – they’ll be a hard side to break down, as usual. The bad news for the Azeri visitors is that star striker Afran Ismayilov has broken his leg and won’t play for some time so their attacking threat is all but nullified. If that doesn’t force them into a 4-5-1 then I don’t know what will! I’m therefore expecting this well-organised unit to cause an energetic Dortmund side a lot of problems in terms of the German side scoring goals as it will take time to break the visitors down. I do think Dortmund will eventually do it but I don’t think it’ll be early in the game. Therefore, my bet for today is that the game will be a draw at half-time with Dortmund winning by full-time at generous odds of 11/4.
Verdict: Half-time draw/full-time BV09 Borussia Dortmund to win at 11/4.

Hi
I have been very unlucky in my bettings over the last days so don’t follow me :-) but I think Ian is spot on with the Icelandic league matches. KR has won 14 out of 16 games at home against Fram and I think they will win though they are low spirit after loosing the cup final. FH is going to win the league in the end I think so they will win Grindavik to get even closer to the top. Keflavik needs to start winning and Selfoss is their best change in doing so, Keflavik has a much better team and should win.
On other note, I think Orgryte is not playing until Friday.
Had another profitable day yesterday, albeit not as good as the previous day. Hopefully this is the start of a good run after a bad couple of weeks for me. Found a gem in the Canadian league, which will lead me to check some of the more obscure leagues from now on. :) hope everyone had a good day aswell. :)
On to today… Great previews again Ian, have to say I agre with
most of them to be honest.
First thoughts are that I like the look of a PSV/Dnipro/Hadjuk treble. Will look into the team news before wading in but quite confident on those 3. Might just go with a PSV single to start with as it kicks off earlier and see how it goes.
I think Celtic & Liverpool should win, not sure about city though, and think Villa will get beat to be honest.
Ahhh Luke, the irrepressible buoyancy of a winning punter!
Cheers for the dedicated research Ian, though I have to agree that City are too short to be in my pick, and maybe the days of backing Scottish teams in Europe are gone…
i think the days of backing scottish teams against scottish teams are gone too !!
LOL. I’m originally from Scotland, but follow it closely as a Rangers supporter. Strongly fancy AEK Athens tonight at a top priced 2.50 (1.80DNB)against Dundee United. AEK have a good strong pre-season beating Sydney, Blackburn and Rangers (forgiving their last friendly defeat when the manager got attacked!) Whereas Dundee United opened up their season with a 1-1 draw away to what will be IMO a very poor St. Mirren side this season. I’ve lumped on BATE and any winnings will be piled on Athens.
call me a retard but how do you find smileys here or do i need to download something that will wreck works pc ?
:P :O :)
I think is like MSN haha
:O thanks
:0 d’oh
:D :) :( ;)
Gyori ETO FC vs Dinamo Zagreb
Dinamo Zagreb got problem in defense and also fans boycotted their match. This started against NK Karlovac.
I will try Gyori ETO to win but not not much info on it.
Dinamo didn’t even had a coach until this week, when Halihodzic was appointed. Dinamo is reported to have problems within the team, some important players are missing, and their fans are boycotting travelling to the game.
Gy?r overcame Montpellier, which was a big surprise but absolutely deserved due to their excellent defense and brave play. I’m sure they will try to build again on their strong defense, not to concede a goal at home. Gy?r is not a typical Hungarian team, they have all quality foreign players (not the ones who only live from fixing games..). I expect them to beat Dinamo this evening, maybe even without conceding a goal, I can imagine scorelines of 1-0, 2-0.
bearing in mind i have had little or no success in the europa league this season i fancy FH hafnafjordor @ 4/5 & sylvia at 27/20 today – if i’m swayed into europa league only man city & porto appeal – i liked the look of metalist karkviv @ 9/5 but ian warned me off (i just remember them ‘destroying’ everton 1-1 at goodison the other year) they were all over them despite the scoreline in case you thought i was cracking up !
They’ve also had 9 points docked domestically due to match fixing last year and various members behind the scenes at Metalist have been sacked too so they can’t be in the best shape atm
oh no not the match fixing scourge – it’s hard enough picking winners as it is – there is so much of it about !! when will it happen here ? – excluding matt le big nosed scummer le tissier trying to concede 5 second throw ins in yesteryear that is !
thanks for the info – i was not going to back metalist as it was definately not now
BATE Borisov 2.05
Hajduk Split 1.61
Under 2.5 1.70
Celtic 1.72
TNS +2.5 1.55
Goal (both teams to score TNS) 2.20
PSV 1.61
Karpaty Lviv +1.5,+2.0 1.675
CSKA Moscow -1.5 1.80
Goal (both teams to score Club Brugge) 1.95
Debrecen 0.0 1.55
Odense BK 1.66
Rapid Vienna +0.5 1.525
After some extensive research these are the picks that interest me today… They should all be completely in tune with Ian’s predictions as I rarely challenge his selections. I’m in the process of vetting through these now to create an accumulator, and find the best of the bunch to use as singles. Thoughts are welcome.
For an accumulator i´ll recommend:
PSV
CSKA Moscow
Hajduk Split
Galatasaray
Good luck!
A nice double: Gyori ETO FC and Rapid Vienn
Rapid Vienn overcome Aston villa last time out.
With so many villa players either missing or suspended. Betting on a home win at very good odd look juicy.
I was going to discourage you from backing Rapid because they’ve lost key players since they last faced Villa but seeing that Villa are missing Dunne, Carew, Young, and Agbonlahor, I’d probably say 1X. Good luck mate
Yeah but to be honest, I don’t think he’s a European-quality player so I wouldn’t read too much into that!
milner’s gone too isn’t he?
Really!? He impressed me how flexible he was at the world cup, especially his performance against Slovenia
Villa seem to have something of a defensive crisis – Davies, Collins, Cuellar and Dunne all injured; Petrov and Luke Young are being rested.
Then again, I thought last weekend that a young villa team would fail to ‘gel’….then Marc Albrighton gave the Hammers a right fisting.
like the look of liverpool atm. midfield looks strong, reina will make up for his gaff on sunday and ngog is scoring goals and hopefully torres can get a half in. liverpool will look to take a lead to turkey. i went limp last year with liverpools efforts but i’m hard again, so with that i’ll bet hard. $3000 at $1.20
I agree with you. Liverpool put in a good performance against Arsenal on Sunday, and were unlucky not to win. Reina is a top-quality goalkeeper, and one of Liverpool’s most reliable players. Last weekend was just something that happens to all ‘keepers every so often. Pepe is a strong character and will not let it affect his performance tonight. N’Gog is playing well, and will probably start up-front tonight again, and I fancy him to score again. Torres will likely make an appearance after the hour-mark.
Liverpool will want to win comfortably tonight, whilst also keeping a clean sheet. We all know Turkey is a very tough and intimidating place to play, and Liverpool will not want to go there needing a result. They will want to wrap-up the tie tonight, and I believe they will win 2-0.
Word is that N’Gog won’t start, neither will Gerrard.
———————–Reina———————-
-Kelly—-Carragher—-Kyrgiakos—-Aurelio-
Reina.
Kelly. Carragher. Kyrgiakos. Aurelio.
Poulsen. Lucas.
Maxi. Cole. Babel.
Jovanovic.
Or some other variation of the attacking four.
wot would be the best doubles or treble to try double the money odds just over 2?
Hey guys. Was wondering what you think of the Arsenal/Blackpool game tomorrow? I know Blackpool have only just been promoted, but the way they demolished wigan last week…. The odds on them to win are 15/1
keep your money i wouldnt take 50-1 personally
There’s a reason they are 15-1!!! They are playing Arsenal not Wigan (who played probably the worst defensive performance in premier league history).
Anything can happen in football but highly unlikely imo. Blackpool aren’t strong enough defensivly to cope with Arsenal and i’m not even sure Holloway will play defensive…..he will have to soon enough though!
Personally I’m not sure I would take both teams to score Clarissa, let alone a Blackpool win, or even double chance for that matter!. Even if Fabregas doesn’t start, they’ll get demolished at the Emirates!:)
I’ve had a nightmare! Meant to place a treble of PSV, Hadjuk and Dnipro but acidentally placed doubles.
Anyone have an email address for Bet365 support so I can email them
and see if they can change it.
Cheers
Use their livechat function mate. Anything bet365 related should be on their website :)
For me it’s PSV & Hajduk double and also a smaller bet on Omonia, Leverkusen, over 2.5 in Napoli.
Good luck!
Guys,
I’ve been watching Paris Saint Germain in their friendlies and their 2 games played for the French season, they seem to be a very good side this season.
With the likes of Sessegnon, Nene, Erding and Hoarau as firepower they possessed one of the best attack in the Ligue1..Believe me for sure guys.
They destroyed St-Etienne 3-1 at home for their first game but drew 0-0 against Lille for their second game. But Lille’s keeper Landrau (ex-PSG) was voted man of the match eventually. They really should have won this too..Unlucky.
PSG is celebrating their 40 years of existence this year and we all know how hard it was for the team to qualify for this Europa league last season..thanks to a domestic cup win.
All in all: Paris devrait gagner ce match guys!—Straight home win.
PSG
coral are c**** they show psv at 4/6 – i go to the shop to bet £750 on PSV yet they say i can have £200 @ 4/6 and the rest at 8/13 – they always do this to me – it saves them all of £29 – i think it’s an embarrassment on their part – they are happy to take a quid here & a quid there from low life tosspots who spunk all their social money on shit horses but they dont like people who win from time to time – i’m fucking angry – are they are trying to pice me out of using them as they are scared of losing or are they just c**** ? anyway rant over come on psv i want my £471.59 instead of a round £500 -c

unbelivable. i had psv to win last nite. backed the draw wen i saw both teams had a red card to be safe and a 90min goal for sibir has killed me :(
I got on Sibir Novosibirsk :D, was all over them corner-wise so backed them DNB.
Also the tipster tipped PSV, which meant PSV wasn’t gonna win. :)
How astute of you.
Well, this shit is annoying!
Anyway it’s “welcome to Europa League” once again. At least it was the first game…there’s still potential for something good to come out from today!
i believe you
if you had posted this before it had happened you would be slightly less of a bellend
U can’t have a go at Ian after the event has happend. At least he has the balls to say and put his predictions up before all the events have started!
rob you are full of shit
STFU u noob dickhead…..even i lost this one i still need to thank IAN for all winning tips …i made a lot of money since i visit this site so i don’t let a shit like u ruin everything….so if u dont like it go away and don’t come back….
Oh, you are a great tispter post-match.

6 Dortmund v Karabakh (Backing Dortmund @ 1.15)
7 AZ Alkmaar v FK Aktobe (Backing Az Alkmaar @ 1.2)
8 Napoli v Elfsborg (Backing Napoli @ 1.36)
@7/1
:-D
And yes absolute horseshite PSV losing WTF….!!
i dont think anyone noticed my baseball find yesterday. got 7/4 instead of 1/10 ,because paddy power are stupid at updating baseball in running.
today galatasary and man city to win by 2 or more goals.
gala should be safe, man city is trickier but they have potential to score 5 or 6 and the odds of 8/5 seems generous.
4/1 the double
i noticed it bud but i had no money in my paddy account. thanks for the heads up :) im on man city 2. they need wins and im sure this will be there 1st of the season :)
Dubious. I fancy City to beat the handicap more than I do Gala though. Gala have a poor squad this year – there’s only Turan left that makes anything happen! Karpaty are nothing if not resilient and if OFK Belgrade can get a 2-2 draw in Istanbul then Karpaty can actually win there! City have a tough game too though – Poli Timisoara don’t surrender to anyone, despite their occasionally suicidal defending! Good luck though mate
IAN i’m STEAUA BUCHAREST fan so i don’t think that GRASSHOPERS can take a win here.stadium will be full, new coach, players wanna impress their manager and prove that they have value…so steaua can take at least a draw here….
Hey mate!
I know what you mean. If Steaua didn’t have all their issues atm then I’d be backing Steaua as the Grasshoppers defence can be weak. However, I just get the impression that Steaua aren’t as happy with Dumitrescu arriving, former Steaua play though he was. Piturca was popular so I don’t know if the players will be feeling the pressure tonight. It’s a tough game but I think Grasshoppers can spring a surprise although it should be a decent game that can go either way. Hope Steaua win for your sake, mate! :)
i guess u right. After GRASSHOPERS win their away game in weekend prolly they have good morale and can catch STEAUA on counter….
BUT they won’t win here ….i’m sure …
ha he changed his mind so quickly
im not changing my mind , come on gala and city.
btw isnt baros still at gala? hes scoring loads right? and kewell, the crowd… not a an of the keeper tho to be fair..
The Gala crowed at Ali Sami Yen are more of a hindrance than a help with massive pressure if the side simply misplaces a pass…
Baros isn’t fit properly – he needs a couple of games to lose his rusty ways. Kewell is good but his better years are behind him now. Gala look weak in the middle and Cana is supposed to be missing too. Gala lack confidence and play poorly from what I’ve seen – I wouldn’t trust them on their name here.
Well, I hope you prove me wrong :)
Hope you guys went for Paris St Germain.
City and Sporting @ 1.22/1
Stake £200
Potential profit £244
Current bankroll £900
My tuppence worth.
First and foremost, Rob (and to potential wankers) please don’t come gloating if you’ve won a bet AFTER the game has finished. If you would have posted prior to kick off then I’m sure in saying people would have congratulated you. Oh and most certainly don’t ever make another cheeky remark about Ian’s tips because we all know how that will end for you.
It’s not encouraging for me and other loyal users to come on here to find people taking the piss. I count myself in this category from time to time but its becoming a frequent matter by the looks of it. I’m glad I found this site an age ago because had I strolled across it recently I certainly wouldn’t be impressed by some of the utter shit the new boys have been posting.
I’m a busy man and can’t justify my comment right now but good luck to everyone for this new season. Keeping slaying them Ian! ;)
Hope the “regulars” are keeping well. Phil you cheeky bugger you’re going strong on Betshoot I see eh! :D Oh and Marzy stop rigging the S-League mate haha!
p.s A big shout out to Goalkeeper who’s picked 27 consecutive winning bets in the Glory Hunt and still going strong! I would love to see the ROI on that mate! :)
Cheers mate, I’m sure it’ll end soon enough… ;)
Good to hear off you Toffee! Hope all is well mate.
My 2 Midweek slips have won for me :D
7 Folds won me 783.04 off £17 stake
5 Folds won me 483.10 off £83 stake
IM BACK :D
Jst seen ur post toffee boy! Incase u think I’ve posted after seein urs m8. I’ve been postin my slips all week n post wen i lose them which I have been since World Cup till 2nite. 1st wins since it. Just incase u think I was being a knob.
Haha don’t worry mate it has nothing to do with you!
I count you as part of the regulars on here. It’s the little shites that make an account just to whinge about a pick that Ian got wrong. Check the forum for more info!
Nice one on your bets mate. I was completely outdone by PSV today. Rodriguezs’ stupidity cost them the game even though it was 10 v 10 in the second half. Just looking forward to the weekend now and for the Bundesliga to start tomorrow! :D Good to see you back as well fella.
P.S. I dont get any replies to my posts when I do post my accums before the midweek or weekend games start apart from ‘Marz’ lol
Cheer Marz :)
Ta m8. Think this month is my 1st anniversary in Footall betting lol
I totally agree m8. Hate it when they do. Im sure 80% of the posts about there winnings who slag off Ian at the same time aint true anyway. I certainly wouldnt have backed PSV to lose! I would have put my house on X2 for sure. If u did back Sibir Novosibirsk to win u would have to be stupid even if u did end up winning!
Ive learnt never to bet on Europa, Champions REALLY early Qualifiers, Friendlies + a lot of 1st games of the season. Was horrible not having won since World Cup till 2nite! Ill b honest i lost a bucket load! Unpatient!
Hope u get back on here more often soon m8! Love ur previews.
Hope Everton win for me weekend too ;)

very good tipping, a lot of short priced favourites but they all come in, which is handy.
bet you you can’t fo it tomorrow :)
I will try my very best! hehe :-D
Super Mario made you a nice little earner eh Ash ;)
Keep up the good work! Just make sure you’re not going in large stakes because one team always manages to cock it up somehow. Great stuff.
yh cheers toffee…my stakes for multiples under £10 are always £50 so i guess thats high right? (its all relative tho like the universe lol)
:-D
odds of 10 not £10
Think i might start takin Ashley’s tips now! Found it hard till now cuz of me wasting my money away on stupid early season football!
you missed a smiley for cska moscow.
haha good bet!
i know lol
Outside of PSV losing there wasn’t much of a WTF situation in today’s Europa League. Juventus had me worried until that 90th minute score.
Hope everyone made out well today.
yep…a good day indeed…thx all…keep ur good work…
WTF
FH lost against Grindavik and Selfoss won Keflavik, very strange results here in Iceland. KR won :-) so Kr is going up the table, but the other results screwed my betting day. I am not having any luck.
Strange day for sure mate! Unlucky with those ones. I’d never back Keflavik to lose against Selfoss having led and I’m surprised to see FH not take at least a draw. Keep going though mate, you’re doing a good job!
dagur, thank you!
At Half Time I saw 0-0 in KR’s match, and I decided to bet on over 1.5 goals >2 (odds) and KR and I’ve been lucky, coz they scored 2-1 in 90+1.
Thank you for your comments about Icelandic leagues and also Thanks to Ian for your great tips, although today I took PSV to win to nil and Dnipro -1.5, I hate betting on UEFA Europa League because I think it’s a shitty champ. But it’s my fault, not yours, it doesn’t matter mate, keep the good work. You’ve made me win money and this is the most important.
Have a nice night and sweet dreams, coz tomorro will be a great and profitable day.
This was a great results for my team KR, now we are 8 points from the leaders IBV and we have 1 game in hand against Fylkir which I will win. So 5 points, we still have games against FH, IBV and Breidablik at home. So now I fancy my hopes for KR.
I was watching the games on TV and Keflavik just gave the game, their goalkeeper gave the first goal and then penalty, but Keflavik should have finish of the game in the first half. Selfoss was playing their first home game in a new pitch and that made I think a big difference.
I am shock of the game FH played against Grindavik, it looked like their mind was not on the game, maybe they are still having hangover after winning KR 4 – 0 in the cup final last weekend :-( This must be a huge dissapointment for them, because they could get 4 points after the leaders IBV but blew it aginst much weaker team. Unbelivable result having in mind that FH has always been very strong mentally and wins in most cases games like these.
Next round in the league will be very interesting, we could see some surprices, Grindavik could take points from IBV and KR is showing their best (exclude the cup final).
everytime i look at the iceland results they are high scoring matches! i must remembernext time to pick some overs matches, i usually stick to betting on the bigger leagues.
hey IAN can u give me ur opinion about this two games?
FC Koln-Kaiserslautern
Hamburger-Schalke 04
Hard to say at the start of the season but Koln should narrowly edge it and the same for Hamburger but that one will be a very tight game indeed
I see the new saints are also playing tomorrom acording to william hill.
2 games in 2 days????
I think it’s been postponed mate
Confirmed: Postponed
thanks guys
Good evening !! I would just like to ask Ian or anyone here what do they think about grabbing spurs to beat l stoke city away @2.2 now before the prices go down. I know they didn’t do that well in midweek but they would die to get the 3 points especially after the city disappointment last week where they were the better side but couldn’t finish their chances. They were in white hart lane and now they’re away but stoke aren’t man city and I think that 2.2 is too big a price not to take.
I need 5 more teams to come thru for me to win my 3rd and Final slip. Its my Midweek/Weekend Slip.
10 Folds
£50 Stake = £1,961 returns.
I need the following to win though…
Arsenal
Middlesbrough
Southampton
Celtic
Everton
The other 5 teams were in the slips that won me my Midweek slips
Fingers crossed :)
looks good, who are middlesboro playing? that seems the dodgy one
ye i know m8! Thats the 1 am worryin about lol There playing Sheff United who aint doing to good themselfs tho and jst got hammered at home last Weekend!
To b honest m8 I know to well by now that its usually the banker like Celtic who mess up like to someone like St Mirren who have an AWFUL away record lol
I didnt really expect Braga and PAOK to do me favours Midweek so we’ll see if my luck continues.
Today was a good day!
Got a 6 fold up im delighted to say the least!
Anyone any thoughts on tonights games?
