Today’s secondary featured game is the Scottish Premier League game in Edinburgh between Hearts and Motherwell.

Hearts fans have long suffered the antics of insane chairman Romanov but now they’ve got to contend with a massive financial wall and it’s really hurting them. We’ve already seen Driver, Jonsson, and Stevenson either leave the club or refuse to play for the club whilst this continues and it’s disrupting this Hearts squad massively. It’s making boss Sergio’s job even more impossible as he’s somewhat powerless as he watches his side slide down the table. True enough, they were impressive against Dunfermline lately but that’s Dunfermline, who are easily one of the worst sides in the division. There’s no doubting that Hearts have good players in their ranks, too – they only need the right combination to make it work. However, given that they’re missing regular defender Grainger, long-term absentee Kyle, and the core of their midfield with Stevenson and Jonsson, it’s very hard to take Hearts’ chances of doing something here seriously.

Visitors Motherwell have a puzzlingly good away record with seven wins from nine away games this season. It’s especially puzzling as they’re not a particularly good side, if we’re honest. They’ll occasionally play good football and occasionally be a nightmare to score against but that record is truly rather phenomenal. Motherwell have been quite cautious pre-match with their comments but they have to take their chances of winnng this game quite seriously today. Murphy and Higdon are having good seasons up front for the visitors and there’s a good amount of experience in this squad. They’ve won five consecutive away games now and given that the only times that they’ve failed to win on the road this season have been when they’ve failed to score, I think they’ve got a much better chance of getting a result here than the odds suggest.

Ordinarily, I’d be all over Hearts for this game as they’re one of the top three sides in Scotland for my money. However, this is far from an ordinary game with players unhappy, leaving, and not playing well. Motherwell are a side with good cohesion and work ethic so for me, the away win with draw no bet is well worth a bet at 8/5 as I don’t see them losing here unless Hearts produce an unexpectedly good display today.

Verdict: Motherwell to win with draw no bet at 8/5.

Hearts vs Motherwell

Today’s featured game is the Scottish Premier League game between Hearts and Motherwell. Hosts Hearts have had a bad start to their season but have started to patch it together lately. Visitors Motherwell are on a horrendous run of form and have parted company with their manager in recent times, which naturally doesn’t help them whatsoever.

Hearts may have been poor this season but they do tend to be reliable at home. They’ve only lost twice in eight home games and have won and drawn three times apiece. Hearts are one of the more odd home sides in the Premier League who score the lowest number of home goals in the division (joint with Aberdeen and Hamilton Academicals) and also concede very few with only Celtic having conceded less goals at home. To say that Hearts’ home games are boring would be an understatement. However, interesting spectacles aren’t a necessity when it comes to making money hence today’s call! Hearts are unbeaten in three games and have won their last two consecutively, which gives them a good level of momentum entering this game today. They’re a good side that tend to under-perform on a general scale but should have enough to see three points come their way by the end of this game.

Visitors Motherwell have parted company with their manager lately due to an atrocious run of form which has seen them go on a seven-game winless run and lose their last four games consecutively. To say that the Motherwell dressing room is quiet would be an understatement! They’ve got no momentum and don’t look like getting any in the near future. Interestingly, Motherwell have only lost two away games all season, drawing five and winning once. However, the fact that they’ve conceded fourteen goals in their last four games emerges as one hell of a problem – it’s an average of nearly four goals per game – so a goal-shy Hearts side should have plenty opportunities to put the ball in the net tonight.

Although this game would most likely end a stalemate if Motherwell had anything to contribute in this game, the fact remains that Motherwell simply aren’t capable of adding anything to this game currently. With that in mind and their horrendous conceding record, you have to feel that an in-form Hearts will take advantage of that tonight.

Verdict: Hearts to win at 21/20.
