Ok guys, thanks very much for the support with the Bet365 link and banner clicking – it’s really good of you all! If you could please continue to do this whenever you remember then it’d be greatly appreciated, especially if placing bets at that time. Thank you!

Today’s secondary featured game is the Allsvenskan encounter between newly-promoted IFK Norrkoping and dark horses Orebro. The hosts started their campaign well but have struggled of late whereas the visitors have ironically followed a similar pattern although for different reasons.

IFK Norrkoping were promoted from the Superettan last season and their intentions were clear pre-season as they drafted in attacking players; more than they could actually field, to be honest. It’s an understandable approach as they don’t have quality players so they try to use their squad cohesion and spirit to break down opposing sides whilst scoring plenty of goals along the way to compensate for the number of goals that their defence inevitably concedes. However, they’ve bagged just three goals over their past four Allsvenskan games so is it any surprise that they’ve lost three of those games? Not at all. They’ve faced a couple of good sides along the way, admittedly, but they’ve faced a couple of poor sides too. Indeed, their 3-0 drubbing in Sodertalje against Syrianska last match was nothing short of embarrassing, as was their 0-3 battering by yet another newly-promoted rival – Mjallby Solvesborg. In the likes of Hasani and Thorvaldsson, IFK Norrkoping do have an attacking threat. However, their defence is average at best and I’ve not seen any side struggle to break through them yet so they should be afraid here.

Orebro finally broke their bad run last match, as expected. The return of attacking midfielder Gerzic inspired Orebro to a 3-1 win at home against GAIS Goteborg last match so you can see how important he is to the team. Haddad is still a doubt but Brazilian striker Paulinho is starting to look part of the team now so I’m not too concerned about Orebro’s offensive options here. Orebro have a very good unit and although they could do with improving their overall squad depth and defensive consistency, they’re still very much a threat and we should be able to see that tonight.

My concern here is that Orebro tend to struggle to adjust to playing on natural grass instead of their preferred artificial turf but to be honest, with that as my sole concern, I still find plenty of value in the away win at 7/5! The hosts are conceding too many goals and Orebro look more than capable of outscoring their hosts here, hence my call of the away win.

Team news – IFK Norrkoping miss Westberg whereas Orebro have doubts over Haddad.

Verdict: Orebro to win at 7/5.

Orebro vs GAIS Goteborg

Ok guys, thanks very much for the support with the Bet365 link and banner clicking – it’s really good of you all! If you could please continue to do this whenever you remember then it’d be greatly appreciated, especially if placing bets at that time. Thank you!

The only way I can surmise today’s offerings from the bookies is “grim” so bet with caution if you’re betting at all.

The only game that interests me from a 1×2 market perspective is the Allsvenskan game between Orebro and GAIS Goteborg. Orebro are notoriously hard to play on their artificial turf and GAIS Goteborg possess a rather average squad, albeit with a couple of classy attackers.

Form-wise, Orebro are the side to avoid at the moment with no wins in four Allsvenskan games, losing their last three consecutively. However, let’s not go crazy with that statistic as we first have to be aware of the fact that they missed one of their main strikers (Haddad) and the best attacking player in their team (Gerzic) for those games, not to mention that those games were against reigning champions Helsingborg, in-form AIK Solna, giants Malmo FF, and traditionally tricky Kalmar FF. Add those two factors together and the poor run of form makes sense.

Orebro will be relieved to welcome back Gerzic into the team today, such is the difference that he makes to the team. Orebro will still have problems scoring goals as Haddad is out injured but at least Bedoya has someone to work with in midfield and new striker Paulinho can finally get a taste of what is awaiting him after his big-money switch from BK Hacken Goteborg. There’s dangerous attacking combinations lurking around the corner for arising Orebro and it’ll take a braver man than me to go against them today.

GAIS’ threat can be summed up in one word; attack. That’s all they’re good at. Alvaro Santos is a good and experienced striker and now he’s got competition from emerging youngsters Rennie and Celik respectively, not to mention Benin international Razak Omotoyossi, whom you may recall from his time at Helsingborg where he linked up terrifyingly well with Henrik Larsson. Add all those together and chuck Wanderson into the mix and you have a very strong attack, especially as Wanderson is far too good for the Allsvenskan, hence his transfer to the Middle East although he’s been loaned back to GAIS Goteborg for the time being.

So why am I going against such a potent side? Simple; the rest of their team is pretty crap. They’ve kept one clean sheet away from home this season and that was against a Halmstad side that has voluntarily decided not to score goals this season. They’ve faced two newly-promoted sides on the road and have conceded in both games, losing once, and drawing once. They’ve also lost the Goteborg derby at in-form IFK Goteborg, although there’s no shame in that. GAIS Goteborg have an uncanny ability to concede goals against any side and I like that when betting against them!

GAIS have lost three out of their last four visits to the Behn Arena and I don’t think this one will end too favourably for them either. Yes, they’ve got a dangerous attack but look who they’re missing – captain and most experienced midfielder Lundgren and essential defender Ekunde. Take those two out of the side and we have a GAIS Goteborg side that can capitulate at any moment, in my view.

Therefore, we have the foundation for this tip. Orebro aren’t playing well but with the quality in their squad, that run won’t last forever. GAIS Goteborg can be good in spells but only when their talented attack turns it on; the rest of their team is susceptible at the best of times. I therefore feel that there’s value in the home win at 9/10 here.

Team news – Orebro miss Haddad whereas GAIS Goteborg miss Lundgren and Ekunde.

Verdict: Orebro to win at 9/10.

Sunday’s Picks

My tips:

As ever, below are my recommended value tips for today in no particular order:

HB Torshavn vs KI Klaksvik – lay HB Torshavn at 9/10.

For me, HB Torshavn are priced too short against newly-promoted KI Klaksvik. Sure, the hosts are one of the top dogs in the Faroe Islands but they’re not demonstrating it very well this season, usually needing the pace of Samuelsen to bail them out. There was almost a collective sigh of relief when talismanic striker av Flotum returned from injury last match but that relief was short-lived as HB Torshavn were pounded 4-1 by rivals B36 Torshavn. av Flotum is not 100% fit yet and with only young Nolsoe carrying the banner in attack for the hosts, I just don’t fear them. They’ve got a top midfield, especially with Poulsen and Benjaminsen at the heart of it, but they’re just not impressing me this season in the Meistaradeildin. They’re shipping far too many goals and losing stupid games ala the deserved 1-2 defeat at home against Vikingur Gotu, the 4-1 drubbing at B36 Torshavn, and the 3-0 defeat at IF Fuglafjordur. The only game HB Torshavn have shown they actually care about lately was the derby with EB/Streymur, unsurprisingly, which they won 3-2. HB Torshavn look to have the hallmarks of being a frustrated Faroese giant this season, in my view, and they need to be careful that the likes of NSI Runavik, B36 Torshavn, and Vikingur Gotu don’t surplant them in the Meistaradeildin title battle with EB/Streymur.

KI Klaksvik have performed far better than they’re actually capable of doing this season, which is no surprise, really – newly-promoted sides often have a “honeymoon” period. However, they’ve lately been given a baptism of fire as they’ve faced four consecutive nightmare games – NSI Runavik, B36 Torshavn, EB/Streymur, and Vikingur Gotu – all in a row. KI Klaksvik simply couldn’t handle them all at once and subsequently lost all of them. They weren’t humiliated in any of those games – I feel it’s important to point that out. Sides have had to work hard and be clinical against KI Klaksvik to beat them, which are two characteristics that I don’t see in HB Torshavn currently. KI Klaksvik’s strength is on the counter-attack, hence their away record being far better than their home record. Indeed, the only side to beat them away from home in the Meistaradeildin is giants EB/Streymur with B71 Sandur, IF Fuglafjordur, and 07 Vestur Sorvagur all trying and failing whilst KI Klaksvik scored an impressive ten goals during those three games.

Initially, it looked like KI Klaksvik would struggle to score goals this season. That was, of course, until they signed arguably the quickest striker in the Faroe Islands – Elttor. He’s been around and knows how to find the net and thus he’s instrumental to all of their game plans, as is Serbian playmaker Stankovic. Quality is a bit thin on the ground for KI Klaksvik, it’s true, but that’s not a problem for them in the earlier stages of the campaign so I’m happy to take a chance here.

I can’t deny that HB Torshavn are the better side here, unfortunately. What I am trying to capitalise on, however, is their inability to defend and their lack of effort. KI Klaksvik will work themselves into the ground today at the propsect of taking points off one of the giants of Faroese football and with capable players in their starting eleven, I think laying HB Torshavn at 9/10 has value today.

Verdict: Lay HB Torshavn at 9/10.
