Ok guys, thanks very much for the support with the Bet365 link and banner clicking – it’s really good of you all! If you could please continue to do this whenever you remember then it’d be greatly appreciated, especially if placing bets at that time. Thank you!

Apologies for the brief previews/lack of members post but I’m short on time due to a robbery at my house last night.

Today’s featured game is the Gambrinus Liga derby between Sparta Prague and Slavia Prague.

It’s a derby, which immediately means that Sparta Prague being price at around 1/3 is a scandalous price. Yes, they’re better than Slavia and yes, they absolutely should win this game but at those odds? You’re a fool if you’d take it. Even the Asian Handicap is way too short so I’ve no interest whatsoever in that market today.

Instead, I’m casting an eye on then over 2.5 goals market here, which is generously priced at 4/5. Slavia have recently signed talented striker Jan Blazek on loan, which finally gives them a good target man; the first they’ve had in years. It didn’t go as well as planned on his debut with Slavia drawing a blank against Dukla Prague but with all due respect to Dukla Prague, this is still a bigger game for Slavia Prague and they will put more into it.

Slavia Prague are still short on quality but their new owners have pumped some money in and they do have a few decent players; enough so to upset Sparta Prague here. Sparta still have in-form Kweuke to call upon here and he’s proven to be a really dangerous striker so far this season so why not again in the derby? Sparta really do have superior players and should make it count here, especially with their exceptional defence.

However, I’m going to go slightly against the grain here as this game means the world to Slavia fans and players alike and I think they will score, especially with big Blazek up front now. I expect them to lose the game, however, and therefore this game should go over 2.5 goals. Either way, if Slavia are going to cause an upset then this game is going to have to go over 2.5 goals because they won’t keep Sparta out.

Historically, this game rarely goes over 2.5 goals and it is a derby so be careful here. However, I think the opportunity is there for Slavia Prague to at least score here whereas Sparta are in terrific goalscoring form so over 2.5 goals is my choice here.

Verdict: Over 2.5 goals at 4/5.

Monday’s Picks

My tips:

As ever, below are my recommended value tips for today in no particular order:

Newell’s Old Boys vs Godoy Cruz de Mendoza – away win with draw no bet at 2/1.

I can’t really fathom these odds, to be honest. Away wins in Argentina are rare enough but Godoy Cruz de Mendoza are one of the few sides capable of managing it because of the number of goals that they score. Sure, Newell’s are a very solid unit themselves, very hard to score against. However, they are going to concede at somepoint and why not against one of the most potent and tenacious sides in Argentina? The visitors have a shit defence, admittedly, but with the likes of Aquino and Noir up front for Newell’s Old Boys, their attack isn’t exactly terrifying either, hence Newell’sĀ having failed to score in three out of their four home games already this season. Godoy have bagged four goals in their last two away games, winning once, and drawing once, so I think they’ve got enough momentum to cause a bit of a surprise here. For me, Godoy at 2/1 with draw no bet cover is a worthwhile bet for them against anyone in Argentina barring Boca Juniors right now due to the number of goals they score and thus it’s my call here.

Verdict: Godoy Cruz de Mendoza to win with draw no bet at 2/1.

Accumulator fodder:

CSKA Sofia, Anzhi Makhachkala.

Slavia Prague vs Dukla Prague

Not much time again, sorry! Bear with me!

Today’s secondary featured game is the Gambrinus Liga derby between Slavia Prague and Dukla Prague.

Slavia Prague are the big name and should win this one comfortably, right? Wrong. They’ve been weak for a few seasons now due to financial problems and although they’ve now finally been bought out, they’re still some distance short of the quality that they need to be a force again. They’re missing a few players for this game through injury (e.g. Kaufman) and are a tad demoralised with all the fines and player demotion going around the club right now so this game may not be too welcome today. They’re decent enough at knocking the ball around, Slavia, but ineffectual in front of goal and it tends to cost them.

Dukla’s defence isn’t much so Slavia may score here but there’s a huge motivational factor on the side of Dukla and that’s that they themselves are a huge club. Indeed, if we go back about fifty years, they were the biggest Czech club and them being back in the top flight of Czech football raises many interesting games and this should be one of them. I can’t see many games that they’d be more up for than this one, Dukla, and despite not having much quality in their team, you have to fancy them to score against their bitter rivals here through sheer tenacity if nothing else.

The 1×2 is a no go for me today. However, both sides scoring at 3/4 looks a given, although I do hate fridays – they seem to ruin even the most straightforward of bets!

Verdict: Both sides to score at 3/4.

Friday’s Picks

My tips:

Diosgyori VTK vs Kaposvari Rakoczi – home win at evens.

The hosts are a better side here, simply put. They play good football and have a good level of cohesion following the shambles of last year. There’s some good passers in this squad and it makes them hard to play against, especially at home where they’ve already won three out of four at home this season despite having only just returned to the Soproni Liga. The hosts are no pushovers and it should show today. The visitors used to be a tough side but not this year. They’re massively short on quality and may even be relegated if they’re not careful. They concede easily away from home and rarely score on the road, worryingly. In a way, it’d be a shame to see Kaposvari go down but if they continue playing this badly then they will. For me, the home win at evens is worth a punt today.

Verdict: Diosgyori VTK to win at evens.
